These last days of 2016 and the first ones of 2017 have been some of the busiest at Malaga airport with an average of 42,000 passengers per day. It has been a particularly intense holiday period in a year with historical figures of travellers to the Costa del Sol.
We start also the New Year with more news about new connections to and from this increasingly popular airport, which results in routes to new destinations and amplifications on existing routes.
One notice for the New Year is that the low cost Norwegian company based in Malaga already has permission to fly to the US. Although there are no direct flights to North America planned yet, in the very near future this low cost airline will undoubtedly be an interesting alternative to the flights offered by Delta Airlines. For now, this company only offers flights between New York and Malaga in high season, but plans to expand this offer.
Norwegian will also offer two new routes from Malaga to Hannover and Dusseldorf from 29 April and 1 May, respectively, with two weekly frequencies. Thus this airline currently offers five connections to Germany with flights to Cologne, Hamburg, Munich, Düsseldorf and Hannover. Personally, we can recommend this low cost company for its excellent service.
Another low cost carrier with a new connection in 2017 is EasyJet with direct flights between Malaga and Toulouse. Ryanair also reinforces its connections with the Costa del Sol, increasing the frequencies of its flights from Palma de Mallorca to Malaga.
And finally, the airline KLM will offer from 1 April a weekly direct flight between Amsterdam and Malaga which during July and August will increase its frequency to one daily flight.
